What is Essential Oil?

Essential Oil is a completely pure, aromatic, concentrated natural oil that has been extracted (most often using steam distillation) from various plants, flowers, leaves, woods and grasses.

Due to their therapeutic effects, essential oils are commonly used in aromatherapy for the holistic healing of body, mind and spirit. Various methods of use include steam inhalation, room diffusion, addition to baths and, with the addition of carrier oil to reduce its strength, for massage and personal care.

Essential oil is very concentrated and should be used with care and respect. Always dilute for use on the skin. The exception to this rule is with Lavender and Tea Tree which may be applied, undiluted, one drop to the area. Remember, less IS more. When using essential oil, use the smallest amount that will get the job done. If one drop will get the job done, don't use two drops.

Although aromatherapy should not be considered a miracle cure for serious emotional issues, the proper use of essential oil may enhance your emotional outlook, provide support and help balance your emotions during the day.

Essential oil is not the same as fragrance oil. Where essential oil is a completely pure oil, derived from true plants, fragrance oil is a created fragrance and does not offer the same therapeutic benefits that essential oil offers.
